Nizaar Kinsella’s piece on Chelsea’s interest in Victor Osimhen has some interesting bits about all of our needs up top.
He mentions interest in players like Antonio Nusa and Ivan Toney as potential options if Osimhen’s new contract takes him out of the range where we can sign him.
There’s also a note on Christopher Nkunku, whose absence since we signed him in the summer has been an important part of our desperate lack of goals.
Kinsella says the Frenchman has “stepped up” his training, and is “pushing” for a debut this weekend against Sheffield United.
We’ve been very cautious about getting too hopeful about Nkunku’s return thus far, and we will once again take the route of caution and say it’s unlikely here. But it’s by no means impossible, and seeing him come off the bench is now no longer that unlikely.
The real question is whether his return will have the miraculous effect we’re all looking for?
