Reece James is out with another serious injury, and when asked about his state of mind, his manager Mauricio Pochettino sadly couldn’t give a positive answer.
The coach had to admit that after another setback in a career which is in the process of being ruined by injury problems, he was not in a good place.
“I prefer not to talk too much now. He’s a little bit down because he was very excited to come back. It’s difficult to accept. He feels very disappointed and frustrated.”

We don’t blame him. He’s had to be so strong to come back from problem after problem, and this one really feels like breaking point.
In the past we’ve been able to blame it on bad luck or excessive minutes played. But this season James has been managed very carefully since his last injury, and it hasn’t helped at all. When his hamstring went against Everton it wasn’t because he had played a string of 90 minute games, so it’s hard to know what to say anymore other than he just has a fragile body.
Accepting that will naturally be very hard for him.
