West Ham United were thumped 5-1 by Liverpool in the Carabao Cup at Anfield on Wednesday night.
That’s another season where Liverpool have knocked us out of the Carabao Cup, but the West Ham fans inside Anfield retained their sense of humour at least.
Julen Lopetegui is under intense pressure right now, and Saturday’s Premier League clash with Brentford is said to be a’must-win game’ for the Spaniard.
There were some positives to take from the performance against Liverpool, but the harsh reality is that we lost the game 5-1.
That really isn’t good enough, and things must improve quickly. I actually feel sorry for the 5,812 Hammers fans who went to Anfield, only to see their team lose 5-1 for the second time in 10 months.
However, one fan in particular was in a jolly mood it seems…
What one West Ham fan was heard shouting to Liverpool ace
The Hammers fans are known for being one of the most loyal fanbases in the country, if not the most loyal.
We travel the length and breadth of the country supporting our team through thick and thin, and Wednesday night was no different up on Merseyside.
One fan was on really good form, as he shouted something to Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher during the second-half.
Kelleher started the game for Liverpool in place of Alisson Becker.
It was a fairly quiet night between the sticks for the 25-year-old, with the Hammers only registering three shots on target all night.
According to the Sun, (print edition September 27th, page 49), one West Ham fan shouted a hilarious retort in response to the Liverpool stopper having a sip of water:
“Why are you thirsty, you ain’t done anything.“
Absolutely quality that is.
The West Ham fans didn’t have anything to shout about after watching our team get battered by Liverpool, but at least one fan amused himself and others in the away end.
