West Ham United could well be in pole position to sign an absolutely lethal striker it seems.
Julen Lopetegui signed Niclas Fullkrug for West Ham in the summer, but the general consensus is that the Spaniard still needs to bring a young, pacy forward to the London Stadium.
Fullkrug may well still come good, but many Hammers fans are questioning the wisdom behind spending in excess of £25 million on a 31-year-old with no Premier League experience.
Aston Villa hitman Jhon Duran was up for grabs, but West Ham refused to meet the Villans’ demands.
Looking ahead to January, or next summer at the very latest, I fully expect Lopetegui to add some really explosive pace to his front-line.
And the latest name doing the rounds is a sensationally exciting one who would take West Ham to another level entirely.
West Ham could seal stunning transfer for Jonathan David
The Hammers have been heavily linked with a move to sign Jonathan David for quite some time now, most recently in the summer transfer window just gone.
The 24-year-old Lille front-man possesses electric pace, incredible movement and he is an exquisite finisher.
David is exactly the kind of striker we need at the London Stadium, and now it seems like we could be in pole position for his signature.
According to a report from Tutto Juve, Juventus are concerned that the Hammers could beat them to the signing of David from Lille.
If that does end up happening, it would be a bitter pill to swallow for Juve, after we beat them to Jean-Clair Todibo’s signature in the summer just gone.
If there is any chance of signing David, and we can beat Juve to his signing, the Hammers should not hesitate to make it happen.
Jonathan David would be a stunning signing for West Ham
The Canadian hitman bagged a really impressive 26 goals and nine assists in 47 games in all competitions for Lille last season.
He has four goals and two assists to his name in 10 games to his name so far this term.
David also has 29 goals in 56 international games for Canada to his name.
The rapid Canada international would offer us something completely different through the middle of the pitch.
Jonathan David has the ability to become a world-class striker if he continues to work hard, and he’d be sensational for West Ham.
Whether we are actually able to get this one over the line remains to be seen though.
