Manchester City transfer target Matheus Cunha will not push to leave Wolves during the January transfer window, according to reports.
The Brazilian’s outstanding form has attracted the attention of several clubs, with TBRFootball claiming that Pep Guardiola’s side have joined Arsenal and the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle in taking a keen interest in the player.
Cunha scored his 10th Premier League goal of the season during the 2-0 win over United on Boxing Day and that is a big achievement, considering he is playing for a struggling team.
However, despite the interest from the Cityzens and other high-profile clubs, TBRFootball report that the 25-year-old is not prepared to force through a move next month.
City are likely to strengthen in January
It is believed that the Premier League champions are hoping to bring in up to three signings over the coming weeks, including a defender, a holding midfielder and a new forward.
That suggests Cunha could be in the sights of the club’s Director of Football Txiki Begiristain who has been tasked with revamping the squad after a poor first half of the campaign.
City do have a good relationship with Wolves, having paid £53m to sign Matheus Nunes from the Midlands club last year, so they would be confident of landing Cunha if they are serious about making a move.
How much would Cunha cost?
Wolves reportedly want a similar fee to what Chelsea paid for Pedro Neto back in August, which would mean an asking price between £50m and £60m.
Considering City are in desperate need of reinforcements, you wouldn’t expect that this valuation would put them off. However, it remains to be seen how high up Cunha is on their list of transfer targets for January.
