Of course, the 2025 summer transfer window is still very far away and it would be foolish to try and create a solid course of action for the summer now for any club, especially a club as famously unstable as Bayern Munich. But certain decisions do need to be made now.
In Bayern’s case, a decision needs to be made on 38-year-old Manuel Neuer, who reports indicate will receive a new deal at the club. Similar reports also indicate that Bayern are ready to spend big to sign a winger. A lot of fans object to the idea that Neuer should get a new contract, but it does lead to an interesting thought experiment. Could Bayern be saving money by signing the former Schalke 04 goalkeeper to a new contract in order to spend big to sign a winger in the summer?
Looking at the squad’s construction as well as the consistent rumors of star winger such as Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sané being on the move, it would not be farfetched. So then the question needs to be asked: If given the choice of strengthening one of the two positions with a big money move, which would you do? Would you spare no expenses to sign a goalkeeper that can replace the ageing Neuer and put your trust in the undoubted talent of the current crop of wingers? Or do you believe in the legendary Neuer to last another year while you ensure the club goes all out in order to sign a worthy winger? And who would you choose? Let us know.
