The fall-out continues from Julen Lopetegui’s fractured relationships with his players.
Dressing room bust-ups and want-away player stories are rife, discipline is poor and results on the pitch have often been woeful. In the midst of this come further reports of players seeking an exit.
The latest news of a Hammers player apparently seeking to engineer a departure was covered last night by Italian source tuttonapoli.net : Their report pulls no punches, confirming West Ham centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo is agitating to leave the club and wants to head to his original club ‘target’ last summer, now actively seeking a move to Italian giants Juventus.
“Todibo is sending messages to Juve, he regretted going to West Ham” claims the report, followed by further explanation from the interviewee Vincenzo Morabito, agent and market intermediary,“This morning I spoke to the director of West Ham who told me that Todibo will leave, they spent 190 million euros there.”
Which would be a disaster for West Ham United who, remember, only have three front-line centre backs as it is. Todibo joining the club was seen as a real coup for the Juventus-bound defender at the time, but Lopetegui’s continued reluctance to play him and their public fisticuffs when Jarod Bowen apparently had to pull them apart – may be the symptom of a player’s disillusionment with life at London Stadium. The last news West Ham needed in this January transfer window, to be honest, when the club are seeking to bolster their squad, not have it weakened by player departures.
This has to be counterbalanced by Todibo’s own instagram post of just a few weeks ago which claimed he was going nowhere:
“I’m not gonna leave big man, West Ham are massive!!! don’t believe the media’-
Were Todibo’s own words. let’s hope nothing has changed and this is another Italian media or agent story without roots. More when we have it!
