Bayern Munich player Jamal Musiala was always a special player with a lot of incredible footballing qualities, but shooting goals was not a strength of his. He was more responsible for providing creativity and bringing the ball closer to the goal rather than putting it in the net himself. However, Musiala is also an extremely hard worker. So when coaches identified this weakness of his, the former Chelsea FC youngster got to working. Fast forward to the present day and he is one of Bayern’s biggest goal threats. And it is down to the time he spent on the training pitch.
“It’s about feeling comfortable in front of goal and getting as many chances to score as possible,” Musiala explains about his shooting practice, via @iMiaSanMia. “I practice finishing that is realistic in the game. For example, I don’t practice free kicks because I don’t take them in the game – not yet anyway [laughs]. I don’t do long-range shots that often either, I tend to look for shots that are more likely to go in. But when it happens, I want to have the confidence to do it. That’s why we gradually increased the distance in shooting practice.”
At this point, the 21-year-old certainly has the confidence to take a lot of shots and take them well. But Musiala is not going to stop working or improving in this regard. Because that is just the kind of person he is.
