Michael Olise’s step from Crystal Palace to Bayern Munich was a huge one for many, many reasons, from the status of the club as a world power to the expectations at such a club. But one of the biggest ones surely had to be the switch from a mid-table team to one that looks to dominate every match. Gone from defending rather deep for most of his Premier League career, Olise is now tasked with running like a madman to regain the ball the few times it is lost in head Vincent Kompany’s system.
Fortunately, Olise seems to enjoy this: “I’m used to high intensity from the Premier League. At first the specific style of Vincent Kompany was definitely a change,” Olise admitted, via @iMiaSanMia. “It’s very challenging, I like that. You always have to be ready to attack, you can’t drop off even for a moment. This way of putting the opponent under pressure suits me well.”
One could definitely notice the change the Frenchman had to adapt to early on, but he is increasingly getting used to the Bavarians’ style.
