Tottenham Hotspur have been blessed with an abundance of high-potential young players in their ranks at White Hart Lane, and one of the highly regarded aces is Dane Scarlett, who has been taking strides in men’s football in his loan spell at the Kassam Stadium with Oxford United.
Time to reconsider Dane Scarlett’s loan at Oxford United?
Dane Scarlett started the season watching limited game time come his way at his temporary employers; however, the time under his belt has compounded since, as it looks like he has worked his way into the first team. But things worked against him as Gary Rowett took over the reins from Des Buckingham last month, and he has hardly seen any opportunities since.
And looking at the current situation, Daniel Levy and the chiefs at Hotspur Way will have to make a decision regarding his future at Oxford United. John Wenham, owner of the Spurs podcast Lilywhites Rose, thinks that Spurs will have a talk with the EFL Championship club this window and determine the 20-year-old’s future with the Boys from Up the Hill.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham said:
“I think Tottenham will leave any decision until the backend of January.”
“Scarlett has hardly played since Oxford United has changed managers. Therefore, I’d imagine Tottenham will have talks with the new manager to see if Scarlett is in his plans. If there’s any doubt after those talks, then I imagine he will be recalled. That way he can be sent somewhere else where he is going to play because he is a player who knows where the back of the net is and just needs the opportunity to show that.”
Scarlett has a long time ahead of him; but will he come good?
The 20-year-old is one of the youngsters at N17 who has been highly regarded after bursting onto the scene at a relatively young age. However, he hasn’t been able to compound his development since making his debut in the Lilywhites colours. And multiple failed loan spells haven’t done him a lot of good.
Though, it is easy to forget he is still very young, and there could still be a lot to come from him.
