Rewind a few years ago, the name “Angelo Stiller” may not have been as widely known as it is today, however, the defensive midfielder was one of Bayern Munich’s hottest future prospects.
Unfortunately, and perhaps fortunately in VfB Stuttgart’s case, Stiller never cemented his path into Bayern’s first team. The result of which saw the Bayern Munich II prospect make a move to Hoffenheim and eventually Stuttgart, where he has accumulated most of his success including a national team call up.
Stiller’s rise has certainly not gone unnoticed, especially by parent club VfB Stuttgart who, according to sporting director, Fabian Wohlgemuth via Sky’s Florian Plettenberg, are currently in contract negotiations with the 23-year-old (as captured by @Plettigoal).
“We have been in good discussions for a while. We will go public once things become more concrete. This process may still take some time. He is one of our most important players, and of course, our goal is to extend his contract,” Wohlgemuth said.
In hindsight, Stiller would have been a brilliant addition to Bayern’s roster, although, the 23-year-old’s progression certainly has everything to do with his career path.
Stiller reportedly has no “ill will” towards Bayern for his lack of minutes while Hansi Flick was in charge, so a future return is still on the cards. In the meantime though, the Bundesliga and the German national team has gained yet another promising young talent.
