Tottenham Hotspur have ample young players with high potential in their ranks at Hotspur Way, and with such a roster comes the responsibility to ensure that all of them are taking developmental strides in their game, and one of the such players who is looking to take next steps in his career is Yusuf Akhamrich.
The 19-year-old has been an impressive figure for the Under-21s in the ongoing campaign, which earned him a new contract at N17 at the commencement of the new year.
Wenham backs Akhamrich loan
And with the new contract secured, John Wenham, owner of the reputed podcast Lilywhites Rose, insists that the player will depart on loan in the ongoing winter transfer window and expects League Two clubs to come in for him.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Wenham said:
“Akhamrich extended his contract with the club until 2028. He is a highly versatile, Morocco Under-20 international who I expect could leave on loan in January. If a League Two club were to come calling, that would be a good first step for him in senior men’s football.”
Akhamrich boasted an impressive record in the Premier League 2 this season with an aggregate of four goals to his name alongside one assist.
However, given where Tottenham is in the ongoing campaign, first-team opportunities will be hard to come by for the 19-year-old, which makes a loan move a big possibility. That being said, the chiefs at N17 need to ensure that he goes to the right environment that aids his development and introduction to first-team men’s football.
Akhamrich was not the only prodigy at Hotspur Way to pen down a new contract with Damola Ajayi, also putting pen to paper to a deal that runs until 2028.
