Reports claiming West Ham United’s negotiations with Graham Potter have ended are false.
This was confirmed as of 5:30 pm today after Claret and Hugh checked with sources close to the deal.
Today’s negotiations were led by Karren Brady, known to be a close associate of Potter. An offer was made to the former Brighton manager last night following a meeting at the home of West Ham’s major shareholder and chairman, David Sullivan.
Currently, the Hammers prefer to offer Potter a short-term deal, but the manager is seeking a two-and-a-half-year contract.
Attempts to compromise have seen the club willing to offer the full term but with a break clause. However, this clause remains a stumbling block, with negotiations ongoing and expected to continue.
Meanwhile, Julen Lopetegui has been tasked with continuing as West Ham head coach. He faces the unenviable job of attending media duties ahead of the Hammers’ FA Cup clash with Aston Villa.
