According to a report from FussballNews journalist Christopher Michel (via @iMiaSanMia_GER), Bayern Munich loanee is diving in even deeper at Heidenheim in hopes of improving himself even more — and showing the rest of Germany what he can do:
Paul Wanner wants to continue learning in Heidenheim until the summer. He has improved enormously in his play against the ball and in tackling. In the second half of the season, the topic of intensity over 90 minutes is on his list. He no longer wants to disappear and be outdone.
The question of what will happen to Paul Wanner in the summer remains open. Half of the Bundesliga has him on its radar: Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Leverkusen or Dortmund. First of all, Wanner will return to Bayern. It cannot be ruled out that he will stay.
Despite a contract that runs until 2027, future plans will gain momentum from the summer onwards. In the short term, he has only one goal: to keep Heidenheim in the Bundesliga and to make some highlights in the Conference League.
Wanner’s situation with Bayern Munich is tenuous. While he is arguable the best prospect in the club, he plays a position (attacking midfielder) that is currently occupied by Jamal Musiala and also by the club’s No. 1 transfer target — Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz.
Could a system be implemented to use all three talents at once in the future should Musiala ink a contract extension, Wirtz make his transfer, and Wanner return from his loan? Sure, but a lot will have to fall into place before Bayern Munich has to worry about that scenario.
