Tottenham Hotspur have had links with a potential move for Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher in the past; however, there are still suggestions about bringing the Reds ace to White Hart Lane…
Keeper roulette at N17
With a high likelihood of a possible Fraser Forster departure at the end of the ongoing 2024/25 campaign, the Lilywhites must further look to address the gap in the goalkeeper roster. The 36-year-old played some decent games of late as he filled in for the absence of Guglielmo Vicario, who has been on the sidelines following his ankle surgery.
Ange also played Austin in a 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United, who had an outing at the weekend.
Now, Tottenham have a bright future prospect in Kinský, who was brought in this winter, and he had enjoyed a wonderful display in the North Londoners 1-0 win over Liverpool yesterday.
Wenham calls for Kelleher
However, there are still voices calling for a new keeper, and among the voices calling for a move now is John Wenham, owner of the reputed Tottenham podcast Lilywhites Rose, and he insists that Vicario needs replacing.
Wenham insists that Kelleher, who is struggling for opportunities at Anfield with Alisson Becker ahead of him, would be the ideal candidate for Tottenham to replace Vicario in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, the podcast host said:
“If there was a plan to get a genuine alternative to Vicario in the summer, then those plans should be brought forward.
“The club have got the money to do it now. Therefore, I don’t understand why they wouldn’t. Those in control need to realise the significance of the situation we are in and spend some money.
“For example, it looks as though Kelleher might be available this summer, with Giorgi Mamardashvili due to arrive at the club and Alisson likely to stick around. Therefore, go and sign him now, pay the money.”
Kelleher has been impressive every time he has donned gloves for the Merseysiders; he is calm in the high-pressure situation and an assured shot-stopper. Although he is not getting game time in the league, he has been doing very well in the cup competitions, and many feel that the 26-year-old should have a starting position in the top club. And this can make Tottenham an ideal destination.
