Could Bayern Munich keep veteran Thomas Müller around for another year? It sounds like the Bavarians are considering it.
But Müller, now 35 and a dwindling presence on the field, would reportedly need to make the finances work for his club. That is according to a report from Sport Bild — as captured by @iMiaSanMia:
Thomas Müller would have to take a pay cut if he were to receive a new contract. There’s talk of €10-15m gross per year including bonuses if things go well, instead of the current €20m [@BILD]
If it happens this way, it would bump Müller from the top bracket of Bayern’s wage bill down into the middle tier, potentially even on the low range of that depending on the degree to which it is incentive-laden. Could the Raumdeuter accept that? It may be a good way for Bayern to keep its depth in the forward ranks without acquiring a Xavi Simons or Florian Wirtz — and a way for Müller to extend his inestimable influence in Bavaria.
