Darren Ferguson was says one Everton player ‘had a pop at him’ over decision to leave Tyler Young on the bench
Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson claimed an Everton player confronted him over his decision not to play youngster Tyler Young.
The teenager, the son of Everton player Ashley Young, was on the bench for the League One side as they faced the Blues in the FA Cup third round at Goodison Park.
While stand-in Blues manager Leighton Baines introduced Ashley in the second half, Ferguson did not provide the opportunity for son Tyler to share the pitch with him.

After the game he acknowledged the decision was a tough one but said the game-situation meant he had to do what was best for his club – Everton won 2-0 but only scored their second deep into stoppage time.
But, he claimed, his call prompted a response from a home player he would not name. He said after the game: “[It was] very difficult, but I have got to do what I think is best for the team.
“As much as I wanted Tyler to get on, if the game had been 2-0 at that point [when he made his final change] I would have put him on but it was 1-0 and I had to get a forward on, I have got to try and get something out of the game, I have got to do what is best for my team.
“We’re not a charity case – as much as I wanted Tyler to get on with his dad, one of their players had a bit of a pop at me which is bang out of order, I’ve got to do what is best for my team and at that point at 1-0 I am trying to get a result.”
