Things are not looking good at the moment for SpVgg Unterhaching at the moment. Languishing at the bottom of the 3. Liga, six points away from escaping the relegation zone and jumping from manager to manager, the club is ringing a lot of alarm bells at the moment.
Unfortunately, Unterhaching’s struggles are also problematic for Bayern Munich. The two club’s partnership, sealed near the end of 2024, was based on Unterhaching’s ability to provide the next step in the 3. Liga for Bayern’s young talents. If Unterhaching gets relegated, the whole partnership will have lost its value. Therefore, Bayern might lend the 3. Liga’s bottom dwellers a helping hand.

Since the cooperation partner SpVgg Unterhaching lacks goal threat, the possibility of loaning some Bayern talents is being discussed. One who is attracting attention – for example with his goal against Salzburg – is Jonathan Asp-Jensen. Haching could be the next step for him.
BFW Analysis
Jonathan Asp Jensen has certainly demonstrated that he is ready for the next step. The dazzling Danish sensation underlined a phenomenal season to date with Bayern II with a goal in Bayern’s friendly win over Red Bull Salzburg in January. While his most of his talents likely make him too good for the 3. Liga, the one constant weakness his game has been his slight stature and inability to compete physically. While his technical ability belongs in the Bundesliga, perhaps six months in the 3. Liga would help him develop his physical game more.
However, while the step into the 3. Liga might do Asp Jensen some good, how good is it to send a young talent to a club as unstable as Unterhaching are at the moment? While the club has finally appointed a head coach again after a long period without one, it seems like a potential lost six months for Asp Jensen. Bayern will need to remember that the player’s development is the top priority over keeping Unterhaching in the 3. Liga and see if a loan would still make sense with those priorities in order.
