Latest Everton news and gossip as a former Blues star has given their opinion on Sean Dyche’s departure as the club’s manager
Former Everton star Pat Nevin has expressed his concerns about the club following the departure of Sean Dyche. The Blues confirmed on Thursday night that Dyche had left his role as the club’s manager, ending his near-two-year spell in charge at Goodison Park.
Everton confirmed the decision of Dyche’s exit just hours before their 2-0 win over Peterborough in the third round of the FA Cup. Following Dyche’s exit, the Blues had Under-18s coach Leighton Baines and club captain Seamus Coleman in the dugout to take charge of the first-team for the victory over the Posh.
The search is now on for Everton to appointment a replacement for Dyche, with several names already in the running. Former Blues boss David Moyes has emerged as the early favourite, while Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho has also been linked with the vacancy.

Amid the uncertainty on the Blue half of Merseyside, Nevin has explained why he is concerned about Everton’s prospects this season.
Nevin told Grosvenor Sport: “A lot of Everton fans supported the idea of moving on and changing things away from Sean Dyche, but I look at the squad and think what else could he have done?
“Dyche would have loved to have got a bunch of players in and named the team he wanted but he had limited funds compared to even the teams around them. Now, it’s all about trying to stay in the league.
“I heard someone joking about Everton potentially having the nicest ground in the Championship next season and that’s the fear you have.
“I’ve been down to Goodison Park twice in recent weekends and there are just no goals there.
“Defensively, they are well organised apart from the Manchester United result but Dominic Calvert-Lewin looks certain to leave in the summer if not January.”
Nevin added: “They need more goals to stay in the Premier League. It’s a big if at the moment.”
