Chelsea are interested in Deportivo de La Coruna winger Yeremay Hernandez and have made a firm offer to sign the player according to reports.
The Blues were expected to be quiet in January in terms of incomings, but defensive injuries to Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile have meant their plans might have to change, and it’s possible a new centre back now arrives this month.
Chelsea are also in need of a striker and some competition for Nicolas Jackson, and although they hold interest in Liam Delap any move for the Ipswich forward is thought to be unlikely this window.
Chelsea interested in Hernandez
One area where Chelsea weren’t expected to strengthen was in the wides areas and despite Mudryk’s suspension they still have Pedro Neto, Noni Madueke, Jadon Sancho and youngster Tyrique George, whilst Joao Felix can play there if needed.
The Blues are expected to know the outcome of Mudryk’s B sample this month and if the winger is banned for four years they will need to bring in a new left sided player.
Spanish publication Relevo have reported the Blues hold an interest in Hernandez and have made what’s described as a firm offer to sign the player.
The 22-year-old is a left winger, who is also attracting interest from Germany and Italy, whilst his release clause is said to be €20m.
Hernandez is a Spain under-21 international with two caps to his name and has eight goals and three assists from 18 appearances in La Liga 2 this season.
It’s unclear whether this would be a Chelsea signing or Strasbourg, although the French club aren’t mentioned at all in the report.
The Blues have Estevao Willian arriving after the Club Word Cup, and pending the outcome of Mudryk’s B sample, a new left winger will be needed, and it’s likely fans would have hoped for a more proven player than Hernandez.
