Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has emerged as a target for Tottenham
There have been consistent rumours surrounding Manchester United star Marcus Rashford given his situation at Old Trafford, and Tottenham Hotspur have made some concrete overtures towards signing him.
It seems inevitable that Marcus Rashford will leave Manchester United this window. There is a growing feeling that the forward has played his last game for his boyhood club amid increasing speculation surrounding his future.
The England international has been linked with several clubs across the continent, with Spurs emerging as one of the contenders. According to a report from The Independent, Tottenham have held informal talks over a potential deal for the English forward. They are considering the idea of signing him on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 27-year-old is looking to leave Man United in search of regular game time and finding his form to improve his prospects of representing England again. The versatile forward, who has confirmed that he wants to take on a new challenge, has been struggling for form this season. He has netted only four times in 15 Premier League outings, yet there has been no shortage of takers.
Tottenham are one of those, as Ange Postecoglou appears keen to add another attacker to his squad. Rashford fits the bill as a versatile option, capable of playing on the left or as a No.9. in that case, he could challenge Son Heung-min for a spot on the left flank whilst covering for Dominic Solanke as a centre-forward.
The Wythenshawe-born talent is Premier League-proven, so the risk option will not be associated with his potential acquisition. However, one major hurdle Spurs will need to overcome to lure him to White Hart Lane is to meet his exorbitant wages.

The aforementioned report adds that this makes a January loan deal highly unlikely and a current understanding that Rashford is far likelier to move abroad than stay in England. He is currently earning over £300,000 a week at Old Trafford, and Tottenham’s strict wage structure means chairman Daniel Levy is unlikely to break it. The only way in which a deal would be possible is if Man United contribute a sizeable part of his salary and that already appears improbable.

While Rashford would undoubtedly boost the North London club’s hopes of achieving a European spot this season and winning a piece of silverware, a loan deal appears extremely unlikely to happen at this stage.
