Tottenham Hotspur have been reportedly weighing up a potential move for Dani Olmo from Barcelona given the Catalan’s struggles to register the player; however, despite the Lilywhites pursuit, Dr. Rajpal Brar, a physical therapy expert and sports scientist, insists that Olmo’s recent period of inactivity because of registration issues increases his risk of injury if he moves from one league to another this January.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, Dr. Brar spoke about the potential problems surrounding injury if the former Leipzig man were to move to the Premier League. He said:
“Due to the contractual issue, he did miss a few weeks of action. As you cannot replicate in-game demands without playing in games, you lose match fitness quite quickly.
“That re-adaptation phase comes with increased injury risk. Surely, Tottenham will have to factor that in if they are considering signing him.“
Tottenham to take Olmo advantage, but there is still a lot to do
Olmo was allowed to re-register with Barcelona, but La Liga has forced the matter to court, leaving the Spaniard’s future at Camp Nou uncertain, and such reports have suggested the North Londoners could take advantage of the situation to bring the 26-year-old to White Hart Lane.
The Lilywhites have been in the market for an attacking player who can bring some spark to an otherwise uninspiring roster on creative terms, and Olmo’s versatility on the flank, complemented by his ability to operate in tight spaces, would bring a different dynamic to the squad. And that should be an asset for Ange Postecoglou’s side, especially given the Spanish international’s knack to score and assist.
However, that being said, it looks highly unlikely that Tottenham will pursue a move for Olmo at the moment.

Moreover, the North Londoners have other concerns in the squad, with defensive issues being at the forefront of it. Levy will have to put cement in those cracks before moving to a potential deal for Olmo.
