PSG coach Luis Enrique was unwilling to answer questions regarding Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and his expected move from Napoli, but admits that the club ‘have to remain open’ to any opportunity in the January transfer window.
PSG have verbal agreement for Kvaratskhelia
PSG are expected to complete a deal with Napoli for 2023 Serie A MVP Kvaratskhelia this window.
Reports on Tuesday suggest that the Parisians have a deal in place on personal terms with the Georgian and that the two clubs have a verbal agreement in place over a price tag exceeding the 70m mark.
Despite outlets in both Italy and France suggesting that the deal is close to completion, Luis Enrique was unwilling to talk about players who are not yet a part of his squad.
“I would like to talk about players who are not in the squad, but I can’t,” the PSG coach said during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, reported via RMC Sport.
Luis Enrique: PSG ‘trying to improve’ in January transfer window
Though Enrique would not answer questions specifically about Kvaratskhelia, he did admit that the club are ‘trying to improve’ in the January transfer window, which the coach feels is easier said than done.
“It’s a very different transfer window to the one in the summer, which is more open, there is more preparation, more planning. The January market is very difficult. It’s tricky to aim big when few opportunities open up.
“I’m very happy with the squad I have and I want to make the most of it. It’s difficult to improve.
“Despite everything, we have to remain open, as the sporting management of the club is Luius Campos is alert and trying to improve the team in all positions, but it’s almost impossible in this transfer window.”
