Bayern Munich formally announced the much anticipated signing of Bajung Darboe from LAFC on its website:
FC Bayern has signed a talented player from the USA for the amateur team . Bajung Darboe (November 7, 2006) is moving from the MLS club Los Angeles FC to Munich, where he has signed a long-term contract. The 18-year-old attacker most recently played in the reserve team of the Red&Gold partner club and is scheduled to play for the record champions’ regional league team under head coach Holger Seitz.
Jochen Sauer, director of youth development and campus, was happy to finally close the deal.
“We have known Bajung for some time and have already had him for a trial training session with us in Munich. We are delighted that he is now joining us permanently and wants to establish himself in European football through our amateurs. We would like to thank LAFC for the good cooperation in this transfer and are both very excited about his further development,” Sauer said.
Darboe said this move was a “dream come true.”
“This is a big dream come true for me. It was always my big wish to one day play for this great club and wear this jersey. The fact that it has now happened fills me with great pride. The club has big appeal all over the world, including in the USA. Since a few US players like Chris Richards, Malik Tillman and Taylor Booth have played here in the past, FC Bayern enjoys a very high reputation,” Darboe remarked (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
