Tottenham Hotspur centre-forward Richarlison has been subject to links with a move away from White Hart Lane given the frustration surrounding his availability and form among the supporters as well as the chiefs at Hotspur Way.
The former Watford striker has been mooted to return to Goodison Park following the Friedkin Group takeover for the Merseysiders.
However, Sky Sports reported Richy would stay put at White Hart Lane for the ongoing season despite rumours of a possible exit. This news was not nicely met by Lilywhite supporters, who are desperate to add a new striker at N17 in the ongoing winter transfer window.
King urges Tottenham to take a loss on Richarlison
However, in a new twist, Last Word on Spurs podcast host Darren Lewis claimed that the North London club would sell the Brazilian this winter transfer window only if a suitable offer were to arrive. And former Lilywhites scout Bryan King has backed Lewis, suggesting that the North Londoners should consider accepting a loss to move Richarlison on.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, King said:
“Obviously, Spurs paid an awful lot of money to bring Richarlison to the football club. However, Daniel Levy is going to need to bite the bullet and accept a nominal fee for him, because they certainly aren’t going to get £60million. Personally, I’d want that type of player out of the football club.
“If that means cutting your losses, then so be it. Any fee around the £20million price tag would be fair.”
Richarlison, who arrived at Tottenham in the summer of 2022 for a hefty £60 million fee, never found his stride donning the Spurs badge. And if the Lilywhites want to move him on, it’s hard to find a club willing to meet Spurs’ valuation.
At the moment, Richarlison’s January departure is not thought to be happening, and with Richy expected to be back for the North London derby, this is his final opportunity to salvage his time at Hotspur Way.
