Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has stated that he is not happy with how talks with Manchester City target Alphonso Davies are progressing.
The Canadian international is out of contract at the end of the season and, asked whether there had been any progress in discussions, Eberl was pretty blunt with his response:
“Basically, patience is not a quality of mine. I’ll be honest about that. I’m impatient. If I want to achieve something, then I want to achieve it, all the talks that have been going on here for weeks.”
Reports in Germany had indicated that Davies was close to signing a new deal with the Bundesliga giants but Eberl has made it clear that isn’t the case.
Davies’ agent is expected to meet with officials
Just a day before Eberl made those remarks, it was claimed that the left-back’s representative Nick Househ had asked for meetings with several other clubs.
Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool are all expected to discuss Davies’ situation with Househ, while Real Madrid and Barcelona are also in the mix.
City are pursuing more than one fullback
In addition to their interest in Davies, it appears that Pep Guardiola’s side are considering a move for Juventus’s Andrea Cambiaso.
The Cityzens have already tabled a five-year contract to the player but finding an agreement with Juve may prove to be more difficult.
A fee upwards of £55m may be needed to secure the signature of Cambiaso. Even if the Italian international does make the switch to the Etihad, though, it doesn’t rule out the club signing Davies as well.
Cambiaso is expected to be Kyle Walker’s replacement, while Davies would provide competition for Josko Gvardiol on the opposite side of the pitch.
