Christopher Nkunku’s move from Chelsea FC back to the Bundesliga could be hitting a snag, at least in the short term.
The former RB Leipzig attacker has apparently concrete interest from Bayern Munich and is said to be “keen” on the move, but Bayern may not have an opening in the attacking ranks for the rest of this season.
From transfers journalist Fabrizio Romano, as captured via @iMiaSanMia:
Contacts between Bayern and Christopher Nkunku’s camp are still ongoing and are positive. The player remains keen on the move and money won’t be a problem from his side. However, money will be a problem from clubs side. There has been no contacts between Bayern and Chelsea over the past 24/48 hours. Still no progress made. A lot depends on Mathys Tel [@FabrizioRomano]
However, a summer transfer window move continues to be possible — by which time Tel’s situation may be clarified and one or more of Bayern’s other wingers (Leroy Sané, Serge Gnabry, or Kingsley Coman) could move on as well.
From Sky Sport DE journalist Florian Plettenberg, as captured by @iMiaSanMia:
Christopher Nkunku joining Bayern in January is currently unlikely due to Chelsea’s €70m asking price and the fact Mathys Tel wants to stay at Bayern, even though Nkunku’s agent Pini Zahavi wants to make the deal happen. Should a January move prove to be impossible, Nkunku remains an option for Bayern in the summer [@Plettigoal]
The longer this drags out without progress, however, the more likely it seems that Nkunku will not get his desired move after all.
