At this point, Bayern Munich are collecting potential successors to Manuel Neuer like pokémon cards. First Alexander Nübel and then Daniel Peretz were signed as young and promising goalkeepers who might be able to take over the mantle one day. Now there are rumors that FC Köln goalkeeper Jonas Urbig is the next young goalkeeper to be signed. So what does that mean for Nübel and Peretz?
When asked this question in the pre-match press conference ahead of the Bundesliga clash against VfL Wolfsburg, Max Eberl refused to be baited: “Life isn’t about ifs and buts,” he smiled, via @iMiaSanMia. “Jonas Urbig is currently a Köln player, Peretz is in our squad and Alexander Nübel is at Stuttgart. Once decisions have been made, we can talk about them, but not now.”
If reports are correct, however, Jonas Urbig will join Bayern soon and expedite the time to talk about such decisions. So it is time for reporters to do what they notoriously struggle with and wait to ask such questions until the right time.
