Yakubu believes David Moyes’ return to Everton is a positive move that will lead the club to a better place
David Moyes has been given an overwhelming vote of confidence by one of his former Everton strikers, Yakubu. The 42-year-old, who joined Moyes’ Blues in 2007, said the club “is now in safe hands” as the returning boss is tasked with the immediate challenge of maintaining Everton’s top flight status.
His first priority should be to try and restore confidence in a side that lies just one point above the bottom three, the retired forward added.
Yakubu said: “I’ve had the privilege of working with him, so I know how dedicated he is. He gives his all to the club and has a deep love for it. I believe the fans love him just as much. It’s one of the best decisions the club has ever made, to bring him back.

“His passion is unmatched, and he gives his all. I believe the club is now in safe hands with such a good manager at the helm.”
Yakubu, who scored 21 goals in his first season after signing for Everton from Middlesbrough, said confidence was key to finding short-term improvement at a side that has won just three times in the league.
Those comments chime with Moyes’ words in his pre-Tottenham Hotspur press conference on Friday afternoon, when he said restoring the players’ faith in themselves was an immediate ambition.
Yakubu told SportsBoom.com: “To bring stability, I think he needs to focus on rebuilding the team’s confidence and instilling belief in the players. That self-belief is key – it can transform their mindset and performance on the pitch. I think when you watch the way they play at times, you can see they lack confidence. He will work to restore the club’s glory days.”
