Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign French defender Mamadou Sarr from Strasbourg.
The Blues are understood to have agreed an £11.9million fee with their sister club.
Ligue 1 side Strasbourg are also owned by Todd Boehly’s BlueCo consortium.
Despite the imminent signing, Sarr would not move to Stamford Bridge until the summer.
Instead, he will see out the rest of the season in France, where Strasbourg are currently tenth in the table.
The 19-year-old joined the club from Lille last summer on a five-year deal.
Already a France under-20 international, he has since made 13 appearances across all competitions.
If the deal is completed, it would be the first signing Chelsea have made since BlueCo bought Strasbourg in 2023.
Winger Diego Moreira previously moved in the opposite direction last summer after a season with the Blues.
Meanwhile, three players are currently on loan with Liam Rosenior’s side from Chelsea.
Andrey Santos, goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic and full-back Caleb Wiley have made a combined 38 appearances this term.
Former Nottingham Forest loanee Santos has also added six goals from midfield.
Sarr would become Enzo Maresca’s first signing of the January transfer window.
The Blues are yet to add to their squad this month, instead seeing the returns of two loan players.
Trevoh Chalobah was recalled from his spell at Crystal Palace last week in a bid to cope with the club’s defensive injury woes.
Fellow centre-back Aaron Anselmino has also returned to West London from Boca Juniors.
Maresca is currently without Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana through injury, with the latter potentially out for the season.
