Bournemouth coach Andoni Iraola is appreciated internally by Tottenham
A 3-2 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday was Tottenham Hotspur’s 12th of the Premier League campaign. They sit 15th in the table and have taken just 24 points from 22 games.
Doubts are starting to creep over Ange Postecoglou, but he still has the support of the Hotspur Way chiefs including Daniel Levy, who has shown far greater patience than he’s done with the Australian’s predecessors.
A glut of injuries have decimated the squad and exacerbated the crisis, shedding Ange Postecoglou of options while leaving him frustrated on the touchline. Apart from the signing of goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky, the lack of January transfer activity has not helped matters either.

While the ex-Celtic boss retains the backing of Daniel Levy, as relayed by reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, more poor performances and results in the upcoming games would intensify the pressure on the Tottenham honcho to axe Postecoglou and hire a new manager. As a result, the club are doing their due diligence in case they need to make a managerial change in the midst of the campaign and have an interest in three bright coaches.
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham could turn to Bournemouth tactician Andoni Iraola if they decide to part ways with Postecoglou. The other two managers on the club’s shortlist are Edin Terzic and Thomas Frank.
Andoni Iraola is ‘liked a lot’ within the North London club and why wouldn’t he be? Regarded as one of the best young coaches in Europe, the Spaniard has turned Bournemouth into a fantastic Premier League side since his arrival a couple of years ago. He has built an exciting squad on a shoestring budget while employing a high-octane, pressing and attractive brand of football at the Vitality Stadium.
The Cherries, who have beaten Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham and Manchester United this season, are gunning for European football next term. He hasn’t only impressed with the team’s style of play and ability to beat bigger opposition but also with his adaptability, dealing well without the absence of his key strikers Evanilson and Enes Unal.
However, the aforementioned report states that it would be extremely difficult for Spurs to entice Iraola away from Bournemouth mid-season as he is totally committed to helping the South Coast side finish as high as possible on the standings.

Following the defeat to Moyes’ Everton, Tottenham are now placed in the bottom half of the table as the wrath around Big Ange’s time at the club continues. If the downward spiral continues, Levy will have no option but to pull the plug on the Australian. That being said, he must provide Big Ange with new signings to restore some pride in Spurs’ season.
As for Iraola, he would be a fantastic appointment for Spurs, but it is very unlikely to see us bring him in from Bournemouth midway through the campaign.
