Tottenham Hotspur has been enduring a difficult campaign, and the pressure on head coach Ange Postecoglou has been ever rising given how the current form has left the Lilywhites in the relegation battle, very far from their initial objective of a top four finish.
With rising pressure on the Australian, he does face the wrath of a possible sack given how the supporters start to get frustrated with his all-out attack style of play without any defensive balance. And if he were to be shown the doors, Daniel Levy would definitely turn to Ryan Mason to fill the gap (even if only as an interim).
However, Matt Law believes that replacing Ange Postecoglou with Ryan Mason would be hugely embarrassing.
Writing in his column for The Telegraph, the journalist noted:
“Sacking Postecoglou would leave Tottenham in the difficult position of having to decide whether to appoint an immediate successor or give Ryan Mason the interim post for a third time. Asking Mason to take over as caretaker again would be hugely embarrassing for Spurs, but there is currently a lack of available managers who are likely to be attractive to them.”
Levy needs to make Ange Postecoglou decision
Daniel Levy has a difficult decision to make given the fact that Tottenham has undertaken a long-term project under Ange Postecoglou, and making a decision to sack him undoes the project and everything they were trying to achieve together in the long term. But doesn’t having a potential manager to deliver immediate results while making progress on the larger time scale make more sense than struggling to put in recognisable performances on the pitch?
It is to be seen what Levy does given all the backlash that he is facing from a certain section of supporters to not get rid of Ange Postecoglou already.
