Ferguson Blow for West Ham as Brighton’s Plans Change
West Ham’s hopes of signing Evan Ferguson have dimmed following Brighton’s decision to loan Julio Enciso to Ipswich for the rest of the season.
According to The Athletic, the South Coast club may now hold onto their Irish striker, who was previously believed to be available later in the transfer window.
West Ham had been heavily linked with the young forward, who has struggled for minutes this season due to both injury and playing a secondary role under new head coach Fabian Hurzeler.
A London Stadium source told Claret & Hugh at the start of the transfer window that there was genuine interest in Ferguson. However, Brighton’s stance of only entertaining offers late in the window was always likely to prove challenging.
That said, West Ham remain no closer to finding a striker to cover Niclas Fullkrug who is nit expected to return until April.
