Barcelona have offered Tottenham the chance to sign Eric Garcia
Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou has been grappling with injury problems for the majority part of the season which could explain why they have been struggling to churn out results on the pitch.
Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson entered the treatment room last week, while Pape Matar Sarr has suffered a fresh injury blow. Spurs have also had major problems at the back, with Cristian Romero, Micky Van de Ven, Destiny Udogie and Guglielmo Vicario all spending months on the sidelines. This situation has forced Ange Postecoglou to utilize teenage midfield prodigy Archie Gray as a makeshift centre-back.
While Romero has started training with the team from Wednesday, it goes without saying that the North Londoners desperately require fresh blood in defence. The Lilywhites have conceded more Premier League goals than 16th-placed Everton this season, having been breached on 35 occasions in 22 games, which has led to the Australian tactician being determined to land a centre-back.

Now, according to an exclusive report from TBR Football, Tottenham have been offered the opportunity to sign Barcelona defender Eric Garcia. However, they aren’t the only Premier League club that Barcelona have spoken to. The likes of Brighton, West Ham, Wolves, Newcastle United and Aston Villa have all been made aware of the Spanish defender’s potential availability in this transfer window.
Eric Garcia moved back to his boyhood club Barcelona from Manchester City in 2021. The 24-year-old, however, has not lived up to the lofty expectations at Camp Nou and managed to establish himself as a key player for the side.
The centre-back, who came off the bench to score a vital equaliser against Benfica in the Champions League on Tuesday, which the Catalan side dramatically ended up winning 5-4, is behind the likes of Pau Cubarsi, Ronald Araujo, Inigo Martinez and Andreas Christensen in the pecking order under Hansi Flick. As a result, the aforementioned report adds that Barcelona are ready to offload Garcia in this transfer window to further stabilize their financial issues.

Meanwhile, Spurs could do well with having a player of Garcia’s calibre and experience in their roster. The 19-cap Spanish international may have not fulfilled his potential at Nou Camp but he is still only 24 and one would assume that his best years certainly lie ahead of him. Plus, he has played in the Premier League before with Man City and that experience should help if a move does materialise.
