Tottenham Hotspur have been vying for reinforcements in the middle of the park, and they have been contemplating a possible move for Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz given the fact that the Brazilian has been struggling to replicate his Premier League performances in the Italian top tier.
However, while the Lilywhites pursue a move for the 26-year-old, the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal have joined the race, making it difficult for Daniel Levy to pull off a deal.
Douglas Luiz has shown his attributes in the English top tier for years with Aston Villa, where he not only showed his ability to hold the midfield but also showcased how he can hold and pass the ball in a systematic approach, something that Ange Postecoglou would love to have in his roster.
Newcastle reject Luiz
Although in what is another twist in the tale, Juventus have offered the midfielder to Newcastle United as they look to land former AC Milan ace Sandro Tonali, per Italian outlet TV Play. They have offered the Brazilian midfielder a possible swap deal that would see Tonali moving the other way; however, it was rejected by Eddie Howe’s side.
Tonali has been impressive donning the Toons colours, where he has not only shown his ability to operate in the high grinding system at St James Park but also reiterated the fact that he is one of the best holding midfielders in the world with a big tank that lets him operate in a box-to-box role. And Newcastle are not to entertain any bids for their midfielder.
