Tottenham are among Premier League clubs interested in signing Wolves star Matheus Cunha
Tottenham Hotspur have been subject to aggressive links with Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha for months now.
Matheus Cunha has been demonstrating his talent and class in the Premier League this season and boasts 10 goals alongside four assists in 21 league games for a Wolves side reeling at the wrong end of the table. He has undoubtedly been Wolves’ brightest spark in an otherwise disappointing campaign thus far, which has got multiple Premier League sides looking to secure his signature.
Following Wolves’ 3-1 away loss to Chelsea on Monday, manager Vitor Pereira called out the Brazilian forward’s body language. It coincided with links away from the club, with the Daily Mail reporting that Tottenham are among some Premier League clubs hovering ahead of the transfer deadline. Arsenal, Nottingham Forest, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been vying for his signature.

Wolves have been in talks with Cunha over a new contract as part of their wish to reward the forward for his glowing performances. While a broad agreement over new terms is not far away, there has been no indications so far that the 25-year-old will extend his stay at Molineux this month. This would only lead to more speculation surrounding his future at Wolves.
The aforementioned report adds that Wolves have no interest in selling Cunha this month and are yet to receive any formal offers for the player. He has a contract until 2027 (Transfermarkt), so the club chiefs are relaxed about their star forward’s situation. It could take an offer upwards of £60million to tempt the Midlands club into selling the South American.
Transfer news guru Fabrizio Romano earlier this week revealed Spurs’ ‘private planning’ over the signing of a forward. The injuries to Dominic Solanke and Brennan Johnson have further decimated Tottenham’s forward line, leaving Richarlison and Son Heung-min as the only experienced striker options at Big Ange’s disposal.

The Lilywhites have had a relatively quiet window despite their mounting injury crisis, with their only addition being young goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky. The forward and defensive units have been decimated by the key injury absences, thereby, directly affecting the team’s performances on the pitch.

Daniel Levy must accelerate the club’s transfer activity and lift the squad’s spirits by signing a couple of quality players. He has to loosen the purse strings and show some ambition by making a high-profile acquisition in this transfer window, and Cunha could just be that player that breathes life back into the Spurs attack.
