Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich is one of the most sought after midfielders in all of Europe given his status as a free agent this summer. We already know that Real Madrid is giving chase to the talented 29-year-old.
One club that seems to be bowing out of the race is Liverpool FC, but Manchester City is expected to be heavily involved in a pursuit of the Germany international:
Manchester City have moved into pole position to bring Joshua Kimmich to the Premier League as Liverpool have cooled their interest in the Bayern Munich star, it has been revealed.
Kimmich’s future has been the subject of plenty of discussion in recent months as he nears the end of his Bayern contract. The midfielder’s deal expires in June and he is currently deciding whether to continue his glittering spell at Bayern or attempt a new challenge abroad.
Kimmich should easily be able to join another big club if he opts to leave Bayern. He is a top-class midfielder who has brilliant vision and game intelligence. He can also excel as either a central defensive midfielder or right-back, making him an even more attractive prospect for the best managers.
According to Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, there is a chance Kimmich will reunite with Pep Guardiola as Man City hold ‘concrete interest’ in landing the Germany ace.
Kimmich is ‘taking his time’ to weigh up his future and this has put both City and Barcelona on alert. City can surely be considered favourites out of those two clubs given their superior financial standing.
Liverpool have also been linked with the player in recent weeks. But Plettenberg states that Liverpool are not ‘active’ in the transfer race as they are looking at ‘other profiles’.
Chelsea FC desired transfer fee for Christopher Nkunku is a hindrance toward Bayern Munich getting a deal done:
Chelsea are reportedly sticking to their £70million asking price for French forward Christopher Nkunku, with a potential move to Bayern Munich currently on hold.
Nkunku has struggled for regular playing time at Stamford Bridge, despite previously impressing a great deal at former club RB Leipzig and looking like he’d be an exciting addition for the Blues.
It now seems Chelsea are prepared to cash in on Nkunku for the right price, but that’s perhaps proving a little complicated. According to Sky Sports, a deal with Bayern is on hold for now, though the report adds that two Premier League clubs have also enquired about the 27-year-old’s situation.
It’s not clear which English clubs have asked about the former Leipzig man, but it’s easy to imagine he could do a job for Arsenal or Manchester United right now.

Rumors indicate that the two clubs are discussing a deal worth €45 million.
FC Barcelona really like Bayern Munich star. However, thinking about getting him is a whole lot easier than making the move happen:
Barcelona have added Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala to their summer shortlist, reports Sport. It is reported that manager Hansi Flick believes the 21-year-old Germany international would be a strong addition to his side, as the Blaugrana draw up plans to make a marquee signing in the summer. Musiala’s deal at the Allianz Arena is set to expire in 2026, but recent reports have indicated that the Bundesliga club are in talks over a contract extension.
Barring any kind of meltdown at Bayern Munich, Musiala should extend his contract in the coming weeks.
Bayern Munich got battered in Rotterdam by Feyenoord and it opened up a whole lot of discussion about what might be going on with Bayern Munich and why the squad has come up so small at times this season.
Let’s talk about what is going on, why fans are so irate, and what might need to change ahead of next season:
- Is Joshua Kimmich correct? Is Bayern Munich not a top team team at the moment?
- Will Kimmich’s decision on his future be impacted by games like Feyenoord.
- What is going on with Harry Kane?
- Kim Min-jae made another high-profile mistake at a time where he is playing with an injury. How can Bayern improve defensively?
- Should Vincent Kompany be on the hot seat? He said he knew what Feyenoord was going to do…so why was the result so bad?
- How much change needs to happen for 2025/26?
Chelsea FC is still contemplating a move for Juventus striker Dušan Vlahović:
Chelsea are looking to land Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic if they can include defender Renato Veiga in the deal, says The Times. Vlahovic, 24, has been linked with a move for months, with Arsenal also reported to be interested. The Serbia international has a contract until 2026 but hasn’t settled in Turin and could move on for around €60m, with Portugal defender Veiga, 21, possibly set to be used as a makeweight by Chelsea to reduce the overall fee.
Ronald Araújo re-upped with FC Barcelona after weeks of speculation that he would leave:
Ronald Araújo has signed a new contract with Barcelona, committing to the Catalan club until 2031 and ending any lingering doubt over his future.
The 25-year-old’s previous contract was due to expire in 2026 and he had drawn interest from Juventus, among other sides, this month.
Araújo put pen to paper on his new terms at the club’s offices on Thursday alongside Deco, president Joan Laporta and vice president Rafa Yuste.
Bayern Munich traveled to Rotterdam to face off with Feyenoord and while the Bavarians were not exactly given a warm reception, the visitors certainly did not make themselves at home either in a stunning 3-0 defeat.
