The big hitters in the mainstream media are now starting to report what Claret & Hugh has been saying since November… West Ham director of football Tim Steidten is on his way out of the club.
As we reported earlier this morning, the German’s last significant involvement at West Ham was during the initial interview stage for Julen Lopetegui’s replacement.
Steidten has been operating in a diluted role at the London Stadium since the summer and has not had any involvement with transfer negotiations this current window. That said, Steidten is credited with identifying 19-year-old OH Leuven midfielder Ezechiel Banzuzi, along with data analyst Max Hahns.
If the Hammers manage to agree a deal for Banzuzi, it would possibly be Steidten’s last involvement in recruitment, as Kyle Macauley is poised to take over many of his duties.
It is thought Steidten is likely to reveal his side of the story at West Ham in what has been a time of huge change behind the scenes regarding player recruitment.
The appointment of Steidten was supposed to herald a brighter future for Hammers recruitment as the club moved to a more continental model.
However, fallings-out with David Moyes and Julen Lopetegui have gone against the Irons’ director of football, who then came under scrutiny following the signings of Luis Guilherme, Jean-Clair Todibo, and Niclas Füllkrug earlier this summer
