West Ham United may well have the chance to secure a deal for a Premier League striker in the January window.
With the January transfer window now open and in full swing, West Ham have to get down to business quickly.
Graham Potter needs a new striker at the London Stadium – the 49-year-old admitted that himself just after being appointed as the new Hammers head coach.
West Ham’s transfer business is set to explode into life now, after the arrival of Kyle Macaulay from Chelsea.
And boy does the recruitment guru have some serious work on his hands.
The squad is an absolute mess right now, and big improvements are required.
As much as Potter needs to strengthen every single department of his Hammers squad, the addition of a top-class centre-forward should be his absolute priority.
And now West Ham appear to have a great chance of getting a deal over the line.
Evan Ferguson set for showdown talks as West Ham eye transfer
Brighton forward Evan Ferguson faces an extremely uncertain future at the AMEX.
West Ham have been heavily linked with a move to sign the young striker over the past month or so.
The addition or a striker with a real presence in the January window will be an absolute must for Potter.
And it seems like Ferguson could well be the man for the job.
According to a report from The Athletic, the Hammers are keen to bring the Republic of Ireland international to the London Stadium on loan this month.
As a result, he is set for showdown talks with Brighton, whereby it will be discussed whether he is allowed to leave or not.
Ideally, that move would include an option to buy the striker.
Ferguson is thought to be valued at around £60 million according to The Telegraph, but I feel like they would surely accept a lower fee than that, given his struggles over the pas 12 months.
In spite of his recent problems in front of goal, I still believe that the 20-year-old has the ability and potential to become a true star at the very highest level of the game.
Evan Ferguson to West Ham would be very exciting
Potter has worked with Ferguson before, so he will know how to get the best out of him.
The 20-year-old is incredibly strong in the air and is accomplished at holding up the ball with his back to goal, and bringing his teammates into play.
However, Ferguson possesses impressive pace as well for a big man, and is a very good finisher.
At just 20, the Irishman has so many more levels still to reach.
On paper, he possesses all of attributes needed to be a huge success in the Premier League.
He just needs to fine tune his game.
Evan Ferguson would be a superb addition for West Ham in January, I’m convinced of it.
Whether or not the Hammers are able to sign him AND Brian Brobbey remains to be seen though.
