Everton may lose around £1million after choosing to end their sleeve partnership with Boxt this summer.
That is the opinion of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that the Toffees need to maximise their commercial revenue to deal with their ‘financial predicament’.
Everton partnered with UK-based e-commerce company Boxt last summer as the club’s sleeve sponsor.
It is understood that the Merseyside club had the option to extend the deal for another year this summer, but chose not to.
Instead, Everton have launched their 2023/24 kits without a sleeve sponsor as they continue their search for a more lucrative deal.
Everton’s 2021/22 accounts showed that the club earned £50.4million from sponsorship, advertising, merchandising and other commercial activities.
With the start of the Premier League season just weeks away on 12 August, Everton are running out of time to strike a new sleeve sponsorship deal for next season’s kits.
Maguire urged Everton’s board to act with more ‘professionalism’ after running the club poorly in recent seasons.
“Sleeve sponsorship deals for non ‘Big Six’ sides are usually worth around £500,000 to £1million as far as the Premier League is concerned,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“That is enough to pay the wages of a player for three to six months at Everton.
“Given the club’s financial predicament at the moment and the very imbalanced way the club has been run by Farhad Moshiri in recent years – every little helps.
“There has to be an increase in the professionalism of how the club progresses forward.“
