Everton must look to sell Dominic Calvert-Lewin to boost the transfer funds for the final five weeks remaining in the transfer window.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has claimed that The Tofees would benefit from the sale of Calvert-Lewin amid reported interest from clubs in Europe.
According to calciomercato.com, Calvert-Lewin already expressed his approval for a move to Italy and would be keen on joining Jose Mourinho’s club Roma in the coming weeks.
The player was recently offered to Mourinho’s side who are in search of a replacement for Tammy Abraham – the ex-Chelsea man is expected to miss the majority of the season with a knee injury that was suffered in the last game of the previous campaign.
With a potential exit from Everton, Agbonlahor believes that it could be a move that benefits both parties.
“Everton should look to get a deal done as soon as possible,” he told Football Insider.
“If a transfer goes through then they can use the money to buy someone else.
“Calvert-Lewin’s injury problems in the past proves you can’t fully trust him as the starting striker, as he is likely to miss a large chunk of games in the Premier League.
“A new start for him somewhere else could benefit him, but either way Everton will still need two strikers.
“Everton really need to get their act together, and get busy in the transfer market, the sale of Calvert-Lewin will certainly help them do that.”
