Everton can take advantage of their stadium being selected as a host venue for the 2028 European Championships.
That is the opinion of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that the Toffees can use the tournament to increase the revenue generation of their new stadium.
As reported by Sky News, the UK and Ireland are set to host Euro 2028 after their joint bid was left unopposed.
Italy and Turkey were set to rival the bid but have since requested to merge their individual bids for Euro 2032.
Bramley-Moore Dock was selected as one of 10 host stadiums for the tournament, despite the venue still being under construction until the 2024/25 season.
The new stadium will have a capacity of 52,888 once built, making it the fifth-largest stadium out of those selected for the continental tournament.
Maguire believes showcasing the new stadium in the European Championships will help Everton connect with potential commercial partners and generate revenue.
“Everton will be looking to convert the new stadium from being used 20-25 days a year as a revenue-generating venue to something on a more consistent basis,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“Therefore, showcasing their new stadium at the 2028 European Championships will certainly help in those plans.
“There will be fans coming from other nations and commercial guests with relations to Uefa.
“If they are impressed with what they see then they are more likely to book it for future events.
“This is a very logical step by the club as they look to make the most of their new stadium.“
