Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has revealed the one senior player that he feels the club should keep.
It has been another challenging campaign for United, who are in eighth place in the Premier League going into the final weekend.
Although there is still a chance of United securing silverware in the FA Cup final against rivals Manchester City, there is a feeling that a significant overhaul is required at Old Trafford this summer.
There remains uncertainty over the future of United manager Erik ten Hag following the club’s performances this season.
Many of United’s key stars have underperformed, and Rooney feels that changes have to be made, stating that the Red Devils need to ‘get rid’ of most of their squad.

According to Rooney, captain Bruno Fernandes is the only senior player that United should keep.
United have often struggled as a collective but Fernandes has still made a significant contribution this season – he has scored 15 goals and provided 12 assists across all competitions.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Rooney said: ‘You have to build the team around Bruno. He’s quality and has got fight in him, and then I think all the other players get rid of them.’
‘I think you keep the young players, and you keep Bruno.
‘I think it has to be a massive clear out. It has to be. It’s not going to be in one year, but I think it’s going to be in the next couple of years.’
United also have some talented young players at their disposal, such as Rasmus Hojlund, Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho.
However, many of the more experienced players in the squad have often found it difficult to perform consistently.
Rooney suggested that it could be time for Marcus Rashford to play elsewhere, with the 26-year-old having scored just eight goals this season.

According to Rooney, it could be time for Marcus Rashford to test himself elsewhere
He said: ‘We all know Marcus has the capabilities to play at the top level, and we haven’t seen it.
‘I just wonder is it time for Marcus to go and play somewhere else. I think he has to ask himself that question. I want him to stay and break records at this club. He needs to work hard and get his head down.’
One player is already certain to leave United this summer, with Raphael Varane to depart on a free transfer after three years at the club.
