Tottenham supporters were left stunned after seeing star defender Cristian Romero beam while in conversation with Pep Guardiola after Man City‘s win over Spurs.
City took a huge step towards securing a record-breaking fourth Premier League title by beating Tottenham 2-0 on Tuesday, while also eliminating Spurs from the Champions League race as Aston Villa secured fourth place in the table.
Romero has enjoyed a stellar season at the heart of Ange Postecoglou‘s defence and despite being beaten, appeared to be in great spirits as he conversed with City boss Guardiola.
The combative Argentine centre-back was largely at fault for City’s opening goal after being easily beaten in a footrace with Phil Foden prior to Erling Haaland giving the visitors the lead.
He was further involved in another flashpoint in the second half after clattering into the head of City goalkeeper Ederson and forcing the Brazilian to be withdrawn amid concussion concerns.

However, it appears there were no hard feelings at full-time as Guardiola approached Romero and enjoyed a playful exchange with the defender who was left looking delighted.
The City manager regularly interacts with opposition players on the pitch after games and briefly spoke with Romero before lightly punching him in the chest.
The 26-year-old smiled back at the Spaniard before looking around with a smile on his face as other Tottenham players appeared dejected after defeat.
Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou later fumed at his team and the club’s fanbase in his post-match press conference after some supporters in the stadium celebrated City’s victory as it dents Arsenal’s title hopes.

However, eagle-eyed fans that spotted the exchange have warned Guardiola that Romero – who is contracted until 2027 – won’t be joining Man City.
‘Now that everything is over. Pep don’t even dare. He is going nowhere,’ said one post on X.
Another comment stated: ‘Pep is telling him to get to a proper club if he wants to win things and Romero saying think your right.’
A third online post similarly stated: ‘Lifetime contract please I love this guy too much’.
