- Ederson not being substituted right after his collision was a SCANDAL – Listen to the It’s All Kicking Off! podcast
After a dramatic final day of the Premier League season, Manchester City secured their fourth title in a row after victory over West Ham.
The hosts set the tone from the first minute as Phil Foden unleashed an unstoppable strike that flew into the top corner of the Alphonso Areola’s net.
The England starlet doubled his tally in 18th minute after applying the finishing touches on a sweeping move before Mohammed Kudus scored an acrobatic strike.
However, Pep Guardiola‘s side avoided any potential slip-ups as Rodri found a third for the hosts shortly after the break.
Here, Mail Sport’s JACK GAUGHAN provides player ratings for both sides.
Phil Foden scored twice to help Manchester City win the Premier League title on Sunday
The England starlet bagged a brace as City triumphed 3-1 over West Ham on the final day
Spanish midfielder Rodri found the back of the net in the second-half to wrap up the win
The win sees City claim their fourth Premier League title in a row and their sixth in seven years
Manchester City (4-1-4-1)
Stefan Ortega – 6
Nothing that could be done about a stunning overhead kick by Mohammed Kudus just before the break. Very little else came his way.
Kyle Walker – 7
Primary function was to support Bernardo Silva higher up the pitch. Seemed up for the defensive challenge with Lucas Paqueta.
Ruben Dias – 7
Very nearly a super assist for Erling Haaland before the break. Tracked the often lonely Antonio fairly comfortably.
Manuel Akanji – 7.5
Akanji has probably been their defender of the year. Some lapses of early concentration but overcame those eventually and grew into the game.
Josko Gvardiol – 7
Accomplished on the ball again, although Jeremy Doku’s inclusion meant the Croatian didn’t roam forward quite so often. Defending not strong enough for the Kudus goal.
Rodri – 7.5
A couple of heated exchanges with his manager, especially in the first half – before then popping up with the all-important third before the hour.
Manuel Akanji was solid at the back and offered a lot while in possession for the Cityzens
Rodri (middle) was in fine form on Sunday afternoon and topped it off with his composed strike
Bernardo Silva – 8.5
Perfect weight of pass off the right enabled City to manoeuvre West Ham almost at will. Very controlled and ended with two assists.
Kevin De Bruyne – 8.5
Tenacious in the opening exchanges to help give City the ascendency. Harried all day in what was a proper shift by the veteran.
Phil Foden – 9
It could only be Foden to lead from the front with two goals in the opening 20 minutes. A performance worth of his individual awards.
Jeremy Doku – 8
A box of tricks against Vladimir Coufal, who he had embarrassed in the reverse fixture earlier in the season. Deserved a goal himself.
Erling Haaland – 6.5
Great in the build-up but fluffed his lines on a few occasions in front of goal. Ends the season as the Golden Boot winner, although could’ve been by a far greater margin.
Foden proved why he was voted Premier League Player of the Season after scoring twice
Erling Haaland endured a frustrating evening up front for Pep Guardiola’s side at the Etihad
