Manchester City defender Josko Gvardiol has been in contact with former RB Leipzig teammate Dani Olmo about a transfer to the Premier League champions, according to Bild.
The German tabloid claims that Pep Guardiola’s side and Barcelona are the two teams leading the race for the Spanish international but the player is leaning towards a move to the Etihad.
With Gvardiol speaking in his ear, it appears Olmo could push for a switch to the Cityzens over the coming weeks, but fans on X are split on whether he would be a good addition to the squad:

I liked this guy since the Dinamo Zagreb days, what a talent, clinical in front of goal too. Only issue is injuries but either way he would be a good signing.

Olmo has a release clause in his contract
Depending on what report you read, the 26-year-old’s buyout fee is either €60m (£52m) or €65m (£56m). Neither figure is likely to put off City from making an offer if they do choose to firm up their interest in the player.
However, it has been suggested that the clause does expire at the end of June so they won’t have long to make a decision on whether to buy Olmo.
City could face competition from Premier League rivals
While Bild have reported that Barcelona would be the Cityzen’s main competitor for Olmo, the La Liga club’s financial situation means they are not in a position to pay the requisite fee.
The likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham have, though, been linked in recent months so it remains to be seen if any of those teams also get involved.
