Manchester City keeper Ederson “could leave” the Etihad this summer, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Brazilian international is garnering interest from Saudi Pro League teams and Romano says the club’s no.1 is “considering” his options:
🚨🔵 EXCL: Éderson could leave Man City in the summer transfer window in case of good proposal, it’s a possibility.
There’s already interest from Saudi Pro League clubs with Éderson considering possibilities at the end of the season.
It will be up to the player. 🇧🇷 pic.twitter.com/cXAcWSxd8z

Fans on X are very surprised by this development, with many questioning why Ederson would be let go by the Premier League champions:
This makes no sense

Ederson is not over the hill
With the amount of money that Saudi Arabian clubs can offer players, there is always a temptation for them to make the move.
However, Ederson is still only 30 years of age. For a keeper, that is not old, and he could have up to five to ten years left at the highest level.
Perhaps he is being lured away by a big payday. He is by no means one of the club’s biggest earners, taking home a reported £100,000 a week, and he could receive many times that amount in the Middle East.
City need to keep Ortega
If Ederson does accept a move away from Manchester, it puts extra pressure on the Cityzens to agree a new contract with Stefan Ortega.
The German has a year left on his current deal but he is reportedly looking to become a regular starter. That is something City could offer him if Ederson departs.
