Premier League legend Alan Shearer says that Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden has been “unplayable” this campaign.
The competition’s all-time top scorer waxed lyrical about Foden’s performances as he named him in his Premier League Team of the Season:
“What a talent. Magnificent. At times he was unplayable, and he’s deservedly been named the Player of the Season. Six Premier League titles at the age of 23, wow!”
Foden has had a fantastic year for the Cityzens, scoring 19 goals and providing 8 assists in 35 league appearances. It is his best return since he turned professional.
As Shearer mentioned, the England international has already won the Premier League Player of the Season to go with the Football Writers’ Association award he received earlier this month. He will also be the leading contender for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year prize, which is handed out in August.

Erling Haaland and Rodri were the other members of City’s title-winning side that made it into Shearer’s XI. Neither are particularly surprising selections.
Despite being on the receiving end of some criticism, Haaland got his second consecutive Golden Boot after scoring 27 league goals, while Rodri was praised by Shearer for his work in the heart of City’s midfield.
Who else made it into Shearer’s Team of The Season?
Everton and England no.1 Jordan Pickford was named in goal, while Shearer went with an all-Arsenal back three of Ben White, William Saliba and Gabriel.
Rodri and Foden are joined in midfield by Arsenal pair Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard, while Chelsea’s Cole Palmer was also picked, off the back of scoring 22 goals in his first campaign with the Blues.
Shearer chose a front two, with Haaland being partnered by Ollie Watkins, who racked up 32 goal contributions for Aston Villa.
