Manchester City target Savio has revealed that he will know where he will be playing next season “in the next few weeks.”
The Brazilian international is currently on loan from Troyes at Girona, where he has had a standout season. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Flashscore, Savio said:
“I still don’t know where I’ll be next season, my agents are still talking and we should decide in the next few weeks.”
Both Girona and Troyes are City Football Group clubs so there is an expectation that Savio will make the switch to the Etihad this summer.
The Brazilian has been in fine form
After a rather tough time on loan at PSV Eindhoven last campaign, not much was expected of Savio when he joined Girona at the start of the season.
However, the 20-year-old has been a revelation for the La Liga club, scoring 11 goals and providing 10 assists in all competitions. He was also given his first cap for Brazil at senior level against England back in March, coming on for the final 15 minutes of the 1-0 friendly win.
Savio has been named in the squad for the Copa America which starts next month, so his reputation could increase further if he excels at the tournament.
City need to strengthen in wide areas
The departures of both Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez over the past two summers have meant that manager Pep Guardiola has had few wingers to choose from.
That was partly addressed by the arrival of Jeremy Doku from Rennes last year, but the addition of Savio will bolster the club’s options even further still.
If he does end up moving to City as expected, he could well have a big impact in the Premier League next season, based on his excellent performances for Girona.
