Manchester City are leading the race to sign West Ham midfielder Xavier Parker, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Writing on X, Romano said that a number of Premier League teams are pursuing the teenager but the Cityzens believe they will seal his signature:
“Understand Manchester City are frontrunners to sign young talent Xavier Parker from West Ham for their Academy.”
“Man City are confident to get it done beating many English top clubs to the signing.”
What do City fans need to know about Parker?
Not much is known about the West Ham academy player. He did make his breakthrough at Under 18 level last season.
Parker came on for the last 2 minutes of the Hammers’ 5-2 defeat against West Brom in the Under 18 Premier League game back in February. His second appearance was again as a substitute versus Crystal Palace during the 4-1 victory in May.
The club are focusing on homegrown recruitment
Parker is by no means the only young Englishman that City have looked to sign this summer. Harrison Miles is set to sign on a free transfer after leaving Southampton.
The Premier League champions are set to beat Arsenal to secure the services of the England Under 16 captain.
Another signing is also expected to be made official soon. Pep Guardiola’s side are believed to have won the race for Chelsea’s Ryan McAidoo. Liverpool were initially regarded as favourites for the 16-year-old but, last week, it was confirmed that he had undergone a medical ahead of completing his switch to the Etihad.
McAidoo is widely regarded as one of the most promising young players in the country, so it is a big coup for the Manchester club. Once documents are signed, he is due to join up with the development squad for the start of next season.
